North Pole Shifts, Causes Closures of Runways at Florida Airport

Yesterday, the Tampa Bay international airport shut down one of its main runways due to a north pole magnetic shift. Sounds a bit like science fiction, doesn’t it? Well, it isn’t. The Airport was forced to shutdown and readjust its runways to account for the movement of the Earth’s magnetic fields. The runway will be closed until Jan. 13, the Federal Aviation Administration said. Paul Takemoto, a FAA spokesman said these types of events happen so infrequently they are not really sure when the last time something like this happened.
